WELCOME TO 4TH GRADE MATH!
Our math program, here in the elementary school, is called Go Math. This program is a challenging, educational, up-to-date, standard focused program. It is easy to follow and has an on-line component that follows each lesson in a challenging, stress free way! The on-line program has many helpful sections, video lessons, extension activities, and is easy to use.
Early in the year, your child will be given their own username and password and they will be taught how to utilize each element within the program, independently, to enhance their understanding of concepts and essential questions. It is a great practice tool as well as a study guide.
The children in my class will become well acquainted with the on-line program, using the classroom chrome books, and will easily navigate throughout the Go Math site, with just a few guidance days of practice. Please ask them to show you how they use the site, at home, on your own computers. Become interested in their knowledge of resources. It's amazing to see them go! Please be sure your child brings ear buds every day.
The Go Math Program has separate chapter booklets that are easy to carry from home to school. The lessons are challenging but predictable and the homework follows each lesson, exactly, and gives a short spiral review of past lessons and concepts in each homework assignment page.
Every night, your child will have two pages to complete. These pages are labeled "Homework" for easy identification. Our advanced class promotes a positive attitude where each student is challenged to produce quality work using their best thinking. They are taught to show their understanding in more than one way, such as with bar models and equations. They are taught and practice logical ways to express their understanding, explaining in words, how they have found solutions and mathematical results. They are held accountable for their work, as well as their thinking, and will be proud to show what they have learned. They will take pride in our math program, and work to their best ability. Please feel free to contact me, anytime, to discuss your child's ability, participation, and drive for math, as they pursue a 4th grade advanced math environment. Welcome everyone!
PARENTS, TO HELP YOUR CHILD LEARN THEIR MULTIPLICATION FACTS. EACH NIGHT, PLEASE QUIZ THEM ON 5 TO 10 OF THEIR DIFFICULT BASIC MULTIPLICATION FACTS. THANK YOU.
